There are two basic methods for installing lay flat vinyl - loose lay and full spread. When the floor covering is laid without any adhesive underneath, it's called loose lay. When it is stuck down with adhesive, it's called full spread.
An alternative to full spread is 'perimeter stick' - where the adhesive is only spread around the perimeter of the floor area.
However, this is not recommended by some manufacturers because it can cause the material to buckle.
